A good hotel does not need twelve cushions on the bed. It needs the right location, a fair price and no reason for regret at 11:30 pm.

Pick the location first

Nice, the Port, Old Nice, Villefranche or Cannes. The right neighbourhood can save you a rental car and several swear words.

Old Nice, Carré d’Or, the Port or a sea view. Neighbourhood first, decorative cushions later.

Sometimes you can have both. Sometimes the promenade under the window has other plans.
