Musée Jean Cocteau, Le Bastion
The big Ricciotti museum is closed. The Bastion, meanwhile, keeps doing the job without taking up an entire block.

Small, very personal and directly connected with Cocteau, who shaped the place, mosaics and display himself. You do not need three hours for a visit to count.
Why we go
Cocteau discovered the 17th-century fort in the late 1950s and agreed to turn it into a home for his work. He followed the restoration, designed mosaics and shaped the interior. The original collection held 102 works and was later expanded through donations.
What to actually look at
Look at the building as much as the art. In 2026, Le château de la Bête runs from 4 July to 16 November. And mèfi: the larger Jean Cocteau Collection Séverin Wunderman building remains closed for technical reasons.
Open daily except Tuesday, 10am to 12:30pm and 2pm to 6pm. Full price listed at €5. Quai Napoléon III, Menton. Checked August 2026.
Menton has lemons, facades and Cocteau. If you only see the first two, that is your choice.
