Musée Picasso Antibes
Picasso worked here in 1946. You can at least try to stay longer than twenty minutes.
The building does part of the work, and that is not a criticism. Château Grimaldi, the terrace, the sea and the art give this museum an identity white boxes never quite manage.
Why we go
Picasso set up a studio in Château Grimaldi in 1946. The site later became the first museum dedicated to him. Picasso works sit alongside other modern and contemporary artists inside a building with a history far older than any of them.
What to actually look at
The works from the Antibes period, then the terrace and sculptures facing the sea. Hu, yes, the view is spectacular. It does not make the art less important.
In high season the museum is generally open Tuesday to Sunday, continuously 10am to 6pm from 15 June to 15 September 2026. Place Mariejol, Antibes. Checked August 2026.
Antibes without the Picasso Museum is still a very good day. With it, the day is slightly less lazy.
