DAY TRIPS

Lérins Islands: the easiest escape from Cannes

Cannes fifteen or twenty minutes behind you, pine trees, coves and no cars on Sainte-Marguerite. This is a day trip that understands the assignment.

A cove on Sainte-Marguerite Island

Sainte-Marguerite

The larger, easier first choice: pine and eucalyptus forest, Fort Royal, the Man in the Iron Mask museum, coves and an underwater eco-museum. Boats from Cannes take roughly 15–20 minutes.

Saint-Honorat

Smaller, quieter and home to the monks of Lérins Abbey. Come for the monastery, vineyards, walking and a genuine change of pace. Planaria runs the crossing from Cannes.

Notre choix

First visit and swimming: Sainte-Marguerite. Quiet, monastic heritage and a day that feels less “Cannes”: Saint-Honorat. Do not sprint through both just to tick boxes.

LES NIÇOISES SAY

A good day trip leaves empty time. If you need to check your watch every twenty minutes, remove a stop.
