Carlton Cannes, a Regent Hotel
Yes, it is the Carlton. No, you do not need to pretend you discovered it.
With its twin domes and Croisette façade, the Carlton belongs to the category of hotels that also function as city landmarks. After a major renovation, it combines historic grand spaces with a garden courtyard and pool.
The official site highlights three restaurants, a bar, tearoom, treatment and fitness areas and the patio pool. In other words, nobody comes here because they simply needed a clean bed near the station.
The great Cannes classic brought up to date. Expensive, spectacular and considerably harder to confuse with a Novotel than with its beachside neighbours.
Why we keep it
The Carlton has the advantage of icons: it immediately feels like a place. On a short stay, that can matter more than another immaculate boutique hotel with no memory.
The courtyard pool gives you a useful counterpoint to the Croisette. You can join the circus and then disappear behind the façade, a valuable skill in Cannes.
Who it suits
- You want the full Cannes palace experience.
- History and architecture matter almost as much as the mattress.
- You like being able to drink, dine and sit by a pool without leaving the hotel.
