Hôtel La Pérouse
For once, 'hidden above the sea' is not entirely a marketing invention.
At Rauba Capeu, between Old Nice and the port, La Pérouse clings to the rock above the Baie des Anges. The hotel has 53 rooms and suites and keeps a more intimate scale than the large palaces further along the Promenade.
The real story is the position: sea in front, Castle Hill behind, Old Nice on foot. The hotel also has an outdoor pool tucked into the rock.
One of Nice's better compromises if you want the view without feeling as though you are sleeping inside a luxury railway station.
Why we keep it
The position lets you use Old Nice without necessarily sleeping in its loudest lanes. That distinction becomes less theoretical at 1:30am.
The view is a genuine reason to choose specific room categories. Mèfi: always check the exact category; not every room in a sea-view hotel sees the sea in quite the same way.
Who it suits
- You want Old Nice on foot but with a little distance.
- A strong view genuinely matters to you.
- You prefer around fifty rooms to a several-hundred-room palace.

- You want to be among the Carré d'Or shops.
- You choose the cheapest room without checking the view.
- A huge resort pool is non-negotiable.
