Hôtel Lou Pinet

Saint-Tropez without sleeping directly inside the noise. Revolutionary concept, apparently.

Around five minutes from Place des Lices, Lou Pinet is a seasonal five-star hotel with 34 rooms and suites arranged around a large garden and a pool the hotel describes as one of Saint-Tropez's largest.

Charles Zana's interiors lean toward 1960s Tropezian house rather than glossy white yacht. A Tata Harper spa, hammam, fitness and restaurant complete the programme.

THE LES NIÇOISES VERDICT

A good way to do Saint-Tropez without turning every hour of the day into a public demonstration of being on holiday.

Why we keep it

The slight distance from the centre is an advantage here. You can reach the village quickly and return to something resembling a garden rather than a line of valets.

With only 34 keys, the scale remains relatively intimate for a Saint-Tropez five-star.

Who it suits

  • You like Saint-Tropez but not necessarily its volume level.
  • Pool and garden matter a lot.
  • You want retro-Mediterranean style rather than classic palace.

Mèfi if...

  • You want to be directly on the port.
  • You need a hotel open all year.
  • You want the beach directly below the room.
