Yes, the view is ridiculous. Yes, the bill can be too. Both things can be true.
La Chèvre d'Or is not simply a hotel next to Èze: many rooms and suites are woven directly through the hilltop village, among gardens, terraces and plunging Mediterranean views.
The hotel's gastronomic restaurant holds two Michelin stars and the other dining options extend the experience. This is a place where the setting and dinner may matter as much as the room.
One of the rare places where paying a great deal for the view is not completely absurd. Mèfi, we said 'not completely'.
Why we keep it
Sleeping in Èze changes the village experience. Once the coaches and day-trippers leave, you finally recover something resembling a hilltop village rather than an international selfie competition.
The food is also a genuine part of the address, not a restaurant added because hotel guests eventually need feeding.
Who it suits
- You want a romantic or spectacular night.
- The view and dinner are major parts of the stay.
- You want to see Èze after the crowds leave.
