A waterfront table is not automatically a tourist trap. It is not diplomatic immunity either.
La Mère Germaine
For the waterfront institution that has been here since 1938.
A historic Villefranche address, La Mère Germaine serves Mediterranean cooking centred on seasonal produce and the sea. The setting is spectacular, yes. At least the restaurant was not invented yesterday to photograph it.
7 quai de l’Amiral Courbet. Opening times vary with the season, so check before heading down to the harbour.

A small gastronomic table in the old town lanes, serving French food with Mediterranean accents. The restaurant highlights fresh seasonal produce, including fish supplied by a local fisherman.
1 rue Baron de Brès. The restaurant lists evening service. The car stays outside. Quite right too.
